Juan Acoba Acob, 85, of Papaaloa died July 17 at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired landscaper for the Hilton Waikoloa Village and served as a 2nd lieutenant in the Philippine Air Force. Kayono “Kay” Okamoto, 104, of Hilo died Aug. 10 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Olaa, she was retired from the former Tajiri Auto Repair, worked for the former Kamehameha Garment Co. in Hilo and was a member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission. Private services held.
